HISTORIC CONTEXT OF THE CLUB
The Pretoria High School Old boys Club is one of the largest and oldest cricket clubs in Pretoria and has been
involved in the Provincial league system since inception. The “Old Boys Club” as it is fondly referred to, is
the premier privately owned club in Pretoria, enjoying a substantial membership base.
HOFMEYR PARK (PHSOB) CLUB HOUSE.
Hofmeyr Park, named after W H Hofmeyr a former principal of the Pretoria Boys High School, is located in Queens
Crescent, Lynnwood, Pretoria. Although it was initially established primarily for the old boys of the school,
the majority of the current members of the cricket club did not attend the school.
The Pretoria High School Old Boys Club provides the base for a variety of sporting codes including bowls, squash,
hockey, marathon running and cricket. The cricket club has a very long and proud tradition and is currently competing in its 88th season.
BACKGROUND OF THE CRICKET CLUB
Currently the club has five (5) senior teams in the in the Northern Cricket Union’s senior leagues. The club
also caters for ten (10) junior league sides. Excluding the some 150 junior members, the club has a membership of 117 senior players.
PHSOB Cricket Club is regarded as one of the most successful cricket clubs in Pretoria and our success continues
to this day. This fact is aptly illustrated by the following;
